YummySoup! Giveaway!

YSG

Thanks for entering, everyone! Random.org gave me comment #12 Pam Schwartz , and comment #57 Jenna ! I hope you will enjoy YummySoup! every bit as much as I do, but I’m sure you will!

Contest has ended!

Thanks a million for all the software tips you guys gave me as I took the leap from pc to iMac.

As it turns out I’m definitely a Mac kinda gal. Doesn’t come as a total surprise to you, does it? Downside is that it’s costing me a small fortune because every time I tell myself I’m really done now, I run into yet another program that I just cannot live without.

One of those programs is YummySoup!. What is it? YummySoup! is a recipe manager that I discovered after someone mentioned it to me in a comment. I found it, installed it and oh wow, this software was made for me. I’m not parting with it, ever.

It’s awesome. From the fun way it displays the recipes, the thumbnail browsing, to the web browser that makes collecting online recipes crazy simple.
YSG1

The layout offers various themes, one of them is a scrapbook style that I love so much. There’s a weekly meal planner where you can drag recipes into and add notes to as well. Plus, there are amazing print templates. Lots of fun stuff.

Fun detail:

YummySoup! comes with a set of default recipes. Pretty soon those will be Kayotic Kitchen recipes. I gave the software producer, Ken Humbard, the green light to use some of my recipes and he’s working on it right now as we speak. Saves me time on importing my own recipes (winks).

And in return Ken told me I could give away 2 free copies of YummySoup! to you here on Kayotic Kitchen! (Mac OS X only)

To enter, simply answer the question below:

“How do you collect/manage your recipes?”

No entries after Monday January 17, and only one entry per person, please!

      This looks like cool!
I have been entering my recipes onto Tastebook.com and was planning on printing a book.

I have an older mac – but will be updating (getting a used/newer model soon :)) — I collect recipes EVERY where.  One central place would be sweeet!  I am so glad you are enjoying your Apple!!

I’ve been using the Mac app SousChef but have recently seriously been considering switching to YummySoup!

I would never trade in my MacBook, ever!  My recipes are quite literally in a pile and need to be organised.

The recipes that I make most frequently have post it sticky tags sticking out of them. Most of the others are all over my laptop, desk, kitchen, stuffed in half-read books and in piles in the drawers. It’s kind of sad. I would love to get them organized!

I save links to a recipe folder in my bookmarks bar, plus I save recipes in my account on foodgawker. In terms of hard copies, I have a folder full of printed recipes that are in dire need of organization. A central database would be fantastic!

Gather recipes from almost anywhere, the best way for me so far is when I find arecipe, captured with the iPhone, either the TV, a box of food, website, or have someone tell me, then When I got home, the notes transcribed as a mail, or in a TXT.

I have seen this software, and I think a far better option than to save recipes to afolder or a TXT file.

I’ve been using YummySoup for a couple years now!  I love it… and use it almost every day!
This Christmas I made a collection of recipes that I used for Christmas dinner by giving each recipe the keyword “Christmas.”  Now… next year I will be able to refer back and read the notes I made for each recipe.
I’m constantly grabbing recipes from my fav foodie blogs to try!

I email them to myself so that I can have them available to me at work and at home. I like to run right to the grocery store after work.

Thanks for sharing this software with us!
Right now I accomplish my recipe collection through lots of bookmarks on all the browsers I use and recipe printouts saved in a binder. Not a good organization method. I didn’t realize there was software out there to do this! silly me! There is a software for almost everything :D

This software looks phenomenal! I never even thought about keeping a database of my recipes online.  Mine are all organized on hand written or cut and taped recipe cards, covered in sugar and chocolate finger prints!  This would save me hours in rewriting down recipes from blogs, sites and  e-mails!

I used to have mastercook on my pc, and have missed it terribly! I have yet to find a mac software for recipes that I like, even better if it has your recipes on it!!

I have been thinking about getting YummSoup for a while now, glad to hear you like it.  I collect recipes in a folder on my desktop, very sad. I usually copy them and paste them into a pages doc and then just keep them around for when I need them.  Bad system.

I have two photo boxes that I have turned into recipe boxes. I made dividers out of cardstock and have them sorted. This way I can make a space for any topic I want.

Right now I keep the cataloged in Sous Chef but I don’t like it. It’s buggy and slow. YummySoup! would solve this problem!

That’s a good question…I’ve been trying to corral them for years.  Recently, I tried Evernote but I haven’t found a system that works yet.  Funny enough, I just told my husband about YummySoup yesterday while surfing the new App Store.

I have bookmarks on my browser in sections and then when I find one I really like I usually print it out and put it in a folder.  I have also experimented with springpad, but don’t love it.  I was just looking at yummy soup and would love to try it!

Either I email myself recipes now, even though I am an avid Mac user (once you go Mac, you never go back!!!)… or I still use up all the blanks in cookbooks to jot down recipes I should try… you can imagine that they are filled with loose notes and things.
I should really try to organise these

I created my own template, but that is getting old.  Looks like YummySoup! is the way to go!  : )

I have recipes in bough cookbooks, recipes in books I have made, in a folder on my computer, and also as bookmarks.  I am all over the place.  I love our Mac and find it very dependable.  This software would be a dream for me!

I wish I were more organized with my recipes!  If they are in my email, I tag them as “Recipes” and put them in my recipe folder.  On my computer I do have folders for poultry, fish & seafood, breads, desserts, beef, etc.   I also have some in Sparkpeople.com and on the WW website in my recipe builder…I really need to get more organized!!

hahah … I can’t believe it took you so long to come to the Mac side :D.  Now that you’re here, you’ll NEVER go back and wonder WHY it took so long.

Oh boy – this is amazing. I just made the PC -> iMac switch for my workhorse computer (after getting a MacBook Pro in the fall for my travel computer. I’m obviously addicted.)
For me, there’s hardly an organizational system.  It’s all based on really good memory and thousands of online bookmarks.  I mostly end up cooking off of memory and ad-libbing it due to not being able to find my recipes!

I love the way that YummySoup! keeps track of recipes.  I had a demo of it a while ago and fell in love with it.  Currently, I just keep a document on my laptop (MacBook!) of my weekly menus, grocery lists, and recipes to try.
