Last time I took you with us on our after dinner walk through the park, right next to my house. This time we went on an afternoon stroll in yet another side of the park. Taking these shots for you opens my eyes to those things I’ve been taking for granted. Man, it’s gorgeous around here, especially during autumn.
The park is called “Het Steinse Groen“. I don’t think there’s a translation for that.

Not that we need it when a photo speaks a thousand words.

Not really sure what kind of tree this is, or why it’s even there. I’ve never seen one single leaf hanging from it. Maybe that’s why it belongs there, because it’s so out of place.

I have to admit it looks almost mythical… unreal. Maybe it ’s not so out of place after all.

This tree stole my heart from the very first moment I laid eyes on it. I’ve spent so many summer afternoons reading under it while my hyper labrador was racing in circles around me. Before I had my son that is, because well, peaceful reading with a toddler bouncing around? I don’t think so.

This looks hauntingly beautiful to me. I always tend to look for shadow and light play in my photos.

What a difference a little color and a few God-rays make, isn’t it?

You can find beauty in everything. Even an old rusty barrel can look like something that should be on the cover of a magazine. Maybe Greenpeace is interested? City clean-up program? Anyone?

Sun and clouds reflecting in the water is one of the most peaceful things to watch. Besides watching my son sleep.

Lots of stuff to do for kids around here. J-man trying to shoot some hoops. Try again in 10 years, kid.

Wild life is fascinating here as well. Oh wait, this was taken at the zoo, through dirty glass. The guy standing next to me was trying to capture the exact same scene… using a flashlight, through dirty glass. Hmmm hmmm.

Ethereal views are not that hard to come by when you have photomatix, I tell you. But it sure helps to start with a pretty view.

B&W photography will always be my first love. It makes everything look so classic. I can almost picture James Dean (or Humphrey Bogart, for that matter) leaning against the fence, lighting a cigarette.

Ain’t love beautiful. Donkey love. These two were so cute together.

This is what I found in my back yard the moment we came home, safely hidden behind a fence. I was still in a “look at the world through a lens” mode, that’s when I see things differently than those times I take out the trash at 7am, in my old and worn down shocking pink robe with my hair sticking out in every direction. Nice mental image, isn’t it?
Beauty is everywhere, if you only look with eyes behind eyes.

Have you published a post where you talk about what kind of lenses you shoot with? Are you a prime or zoom gal? Your photos are always so amazingly sharp… do you carry a tripod around all the time, or are you able to get those with handheld? Beautiful pics, all!
@Audra:
No, I never really did a post on that. I’m a zoom girl, all the way. I don’t use crazy expensive lenses, most of my lenses are OLD. This was shot with a really old 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6. I have an incredibly stable hand and can shoot up to a shutterspeed of 1/5s (Canon) and 1/25s (Nikon) without a tripod, but lately I drag a tripod with me everywhere because I’m completely into HDR.
Gorgeous photos. Gorgeous park. Thank you for sharing them.

Photomatix is a small program that lets you combine different exposures and turn it into a dream like photo.
