Thanks for entering, everyone!
The winners are #21 which is Aline, and #65, and that’s Jessica (get out from under the table, Jessica!). You’ll both get a copy of Kelly’s “The Portrait Cookbook“, and I just know you’ll get good use out of it!
Enjoy it, ladies.
Another photography giveaway, a special one at it.
It doesn’t require Photoshop, or even an (expensive) DSLR. All you need is you, your camera and your love for photography. This giveaway is all about improving your skills and helping you become a better photographer. It comes from Kelly over at Willette Designs, where she offers a pretty unique service to photographers—both aspiring photographer and professional children’s photographers.
A few weeks ago, when I happened upon Kelly’s website, I was awe-struck by her photography skills and the tools she offers photographers. I perused her site and found some amazing goodies there. One of those tools—and you might have heard of it—is the popular “The Portrait Cookbook” posing guides series.

Does that look good or what? I’m a sucker for posing guides—especially posing guides for children. It’s an amazing book that offers guidance on how to vary poses and how to streamline portrait sessions. A real must-have. It’s something we all have to learn as we go and sometimes we learn the hard way. That’s why I’m so glad with the chance to offer you a head-start by learning from a more seasoned photographer!
I’ve noticed her current pose guides include: children’s, sibling, newborn, baby, family and senior guides. So there is always something for you to work with. You can see more of Kelly’s work and tools at www.willettedesigns.com or posing guides.
Two more of her wonderful tools are the Keepin’ it Real Photography Workshop (the workbook is available to those who want to start a children’s portrait business, but who cannot commit to attending a workshop in person, like little ole me), photography marketing sets to help your business, and the Photographer’s Bag O’ Tricks, which is a tool to help photographers keep portrait sessions fun for children. Her blog is full of useful photo tips, (free) templates and tons of inspiration. Go check it out, you will love it every bit as much as I do.
Kelly is sweet enough to give away two free copies of her Portrait Cookbook here on Kayotic Kitchen. So, if you’re into photography—and I know a lot of you are—you will love this book!
Here’s what you get:

To enter, answer the question below:
“What kind of photo do you wish your parents had taken of you as a child that you don’t have today? “
That one hits close to home, seeing as I only have 4 photos of myself as a little girl and one half-shot of me as a baby. But the one photo I truly wish would have been taken was a photo of my son and me, right after giving birth to him. The earliest photo of us together is when he was almost two weeks old.
Only one entry per person, please, and no entries after Monday April 19. Winners will be announced later that day!
Good luck, everyone! And thanks to Kelly for the generous offer!

I inherited my love of photography from my grandfather so we have a ton of photos as there was always a camera around. However, I would love to have a photo of me when I was taken to the local pub at 3 days old with my grandparents and my father. It’s always been joked about that I was in a bar at 3 days old and when my grandfather passed, I found the paper placemat and paper menu from the location. It would be priceless to have a photo that shares the memory to go along with it.
I wish I had more candids that captured my personality. With and without my siblings.
I wish I had more birthday photos. Messy cake-face, smiling relatives, and wishes before blowing out the candles.
That’s a tough one. I wish my parents had taken more candid photos of us kids just playing outside.
I am the oldest and my mom loves to take pictures, so there aren’t many holes… I wish there were more pictures with the neighborhood kids (along with names).
I wish my parents had taken more candid photos of me. I would very much like to see the happiness in my eyes when I had not a worry in the world!
I don’t have a single photo of me with my mother. I lost her when I was 6 but there were 6 years where someone should have taken a picture of the two of us. *sigh*
i wish i had more pics of me as a baby. i have the hospital one and one other when i am sitting up independently with walker shoes on! and a mouth full of teeth. i also wish i had more pics w/ my sister when we were small.
Hm, I had to really think hard about this one. I only have a few baby pictures. It’s not that pictures weren’t taken, it was just my mother never developed the rolls of film lol. I think it would have to be a newborn and mom pic. Or maybe a picture of me on my first day of kindergarten. OR maybe my first birthday! I better stop, I have a feeling I could go on and on………
I wish they had taken more newborn photos of me. I’ve only ever seen one photo, and it’s from the hospital.
It would have to be a pic of my mother and I together.
My parents rarely took any pictures of any of their kids. So I really wish I had really any pictures at all of me growing up – there are years in our photo albums without a single picture!
I wish I had a picture of my mother nursing me
Oh what an awesome giveaway. i have the mommy and me set also just purchased the families set.
Have the children and siblings on my wishlist. Would love to win this.
I think the picture I wish I had the most would be just any pictures with just my mom and me. I have a lot of images but maybe one or two with just us together.
What a great giveaway! I wish that there were more photos of me with my siblings…just everyday life photos. I love and miss my brothers and sister! I especially would have liked a photo of me and my sister hiding under the table so that we didn’t have to clean the kitchen ;-) My parents knew, but let us stay there anyway…did I mention that we still do this as adults?!?!
I don’t have any photos of me together with both of my parents :(
What a wonderful give-away!
I wish I had more pictures of me with my Great Aunt and Gram – whom I spent a huge amount of time with but only have memories of, maybe one picture…
:D
More candids and fewer posed. More making the snowman, less standing by it finished. More peeking around corners looking for Easter baskets, less of me standing next to my finds in my bonnet and leotards.
I wish my parents had taken a picture of me when I shaved off my eyebrow. Yes. I found my dad’s razor and decided to see if it really does work. It was embarrassing and took the better part of a decade before we could joke about it. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!!!
I wish I had more pictures of my mom and I together.
I wish in my heart there could be a photo my parents and I from my college graduation. I was the first to graduate college in our family, but both my parents passed away and missed that momentous occasion.
Unfortunately when I was a small girl it was possible to make only black-and-white shoots and my parents had no a video camera, I would love to see me smiling, crying, walking, running and so one.
I would have loved to have more pictures of myself when I was a baby
Well, there is only one picture of me as a newborn and that is the one they snapped at the hospital (horrible), so the the picture I would want would be of me sleeping after the point of looking all smushed up. That would be a lovely one to have.
hmm, that’s a tough one. I think it would be nice to have more photos of my mom. My dad seemed to take lots of pictures of me and my brother, but not many of her.
