Thanks for entering, everyone!
The winners are #21 which is Aline, and #65, and that’s Jessica (get out from under the table, Jessica!). You’ll both get a copy of Kelly’s “The Portrait Cookbook“, and I just know you’ll get good use out of it!
Enjoy it, ladies.
Another photography giveaway, a special one at it.
It doesn’t require Photoshop, or even an (expensive) DSLR. All you need is you, your camera and your love for photography. This giveaway is all about improving your skills and helping you become a better photographer. It comes from Kelly over at Willette Designs, where she offers a pretty unique service to photographers—both aspiring photographer and professional children’s photographers.
A few weeks ago, when I happened upon Kelly’s website, I was awe-struck by her photography skills and the tools she offers photographers. I perused her site and found some amazing goodies there. One of those tools—and you might have heard of it—is the popular “The Portrait Cookbook” posing guides series.

Does that look good or what? I’m a sucker for posing guides—especially posing guides for children. It’s an amazing book that offers guidance on how to vary poses and how to streamline portrait sessions. A real must-have. It’s something we all have to learn as we go and sometimes we learn the hard way. That’s why I’m so glad with the chance to offer you a head-start by learning from a more seasoned photographer!
I’ve noticed her current pose guides include: children’s, sibling, newborn, baby, family and senior guides. So there is always something for you to work with. You can see more of Kelly’s work and tools at www.willettedesigns.com or posing guides.
Two more of her wonderful tools are the Keepin’ it Real Photography Workshop (the workbook is available to those who want to start a children’s portrait business, but who cannot commit to attending a workshop in person, like little ole me), photography marketing sets to help your business, and the Photographer’s Bag O’ Tricks, which is a tool to help photographers keep portrait sessions fun for children. Her blog is full of useful photo tips, (free) templates and tons of inspiration. Go check it out, you will love it every bit as much as I do.
Kelly is sweet enough to give away two free copies of her Portrait Cookbook here on Kayotic Kitchen. So, if you’re into photography—and I know a lot of you are—you will love this book!
Here’s what you get:

To enter, answer the question below:
“What kind of photo do you wish your parents had taken of you as a child that you don’t have today? “
That one hits close to home, seeing as I only have 4 photos of myself as a little girl and one half-shot of me as a baby. But the one photo I truly wish would have been taken was a photo of my son and me, right after giving birth to him. The earliest photo of us together is when he was almost two weeks old.
Only one entry per person, please, and no entries after Monday April 19. Winners will be announced later that day!
Good luck, everyone! And thanks to Kelly for the generous offer!

What a wonderful giveaway!
That would be a photo of me as a baby sitting in my grandfather’s lap. I really wish they would have taken a photo like that.
Definitely more family photos. There aren’t that many of them.
That’s easy! I wish they had taken a photo of me as a little girl, wearing a pink dress while dancing amongst the flowers in a field of wild blue bonnets.
My parents didn’t take many photos. I was 9 when I got my first camera. I took most of the family photos. I have 1 older sister and 3 younger sibblings. We also had a dog, Ginger, a beautiful Irish Setter. I have several picture of the family with the Ginger, but not one of her and I.
I only have a handful of pictures of my childhood. I was the third child and I believe my parents were tired of taking pictures since my brothers has albums full of pictures. But a picture with my grandparents would probably be the most wanted.
Pictures of me hanging out with my Grandma in the kitchen.
I am the fifth of 5 children..ANY photo would have been wonderful..there are NONE of me..the earliest I can think of is me when I was already walking..and apparently I started walking late…LOL. I am sure I could seek therapy…
I anticipate grandkids in the next few years so you know I will be alllll over them…even #5 if we are so lucky :-)
I wish someone had taken a complete family portrait when I was born, parents plus my siblings plus me. There is one with my father and I, my mother and I, my siblings and I, but none with all 6 of us.
In the same regard I wish someone would have take a family shot (husband, daughter, and I) right after she was born instead of 3 days later, but after giving birth it was the last thing I was thinking of.
Pictures of us kids smiling, laughing and having fun. When I was little, growing up in a developing world, taking picture was a very serious business. All our portraits and even candid shots were of us in serious expression. Not the freedom of creativity and expressions of silliness we see now a day.
I just love to have more pictures of me as a child. My mom did so many great things with us when we were little, I wished we had pictures of all those activities.
Great giveaway!
Thanks so much!
I would have loved more pictures of me as a baby and child.
How cute and wonderful!
My mom was a camera fanatic but I would have liked more pics of me with her. Nobody thought to put her in front of the camera.
I wish I had more baby pictures of me, specially with my parents. I have absolutely no photos except for one baby photo of me in which I am totally over wrapped.
I wish I had more pictures of me with my parents. There are so few pictures of me, but I wish I had more of me and my mom.
you know i wish i was cool enough to make my comment come out in a long line, but i’m not. something was goofy with the text editor. i apologize for a “second” entry, but i didn’t want to be rude. In a more compact fashion…
I wish my folks had taken any everyday shots. I played lots of sports and there are plenty of shots of me on the field, but few family, backyard, or chillin’ shots.
sorry again for the previous debacle
I wish I had more pictures of me with my parents. As they were the photographers most of the time, they are not in a lot of shots.
It’s not so much that they didn’t take the picture I wanted as that it wasn’t well done. My parents took a photo of me and my Grandma hanging out some laundry on her back stoop but my back was turned. It was a very good shot other than that with the sheets billowing in the wind and my Grandma with an armload of laundry while I’m reaching up to hang the sheet, but you can’t see my face. Maybe I should’nt be so hard on them it was an action shotafter all. I really do miss her.
It would have been nice to have more candid shots. Oh or even more of my sister and me when we were real young. Not many exist.
I wish I had more photos of me with my parents. Usually when they took photos it was of me and my brother and not including themselves.
When I was about 4 years old, somebody broke into our house and stole all of our expensive stuff – including my mothers SLR. There are no pictures of me from 4 years old until 11 years old because my single-mom couldn’t afford to buy a new camera. I feel like I miss that whole part of my life and wish there were pictures of me at these ages.
I am just starting my own photography business so winning this book would be super helpful!
Any picture would have been great. I have maybe 4 or 5 from my childhood, and I wish I had more so I could compare my children to them.
What a fantastic giveaway, Kay and Kelly! I wish I would have taken more photos of my dog when he was a puppy.
Oh, my! When I was five years old, I made up a dance routine and I “performed” it in my backyard. I wish I had a photo of that… Thanks for a great giveaway!
I wish I had photos of me and my mom. She was usually the one taking the picture, so there aren’t too many of the two of us together!
This posing guide sounds awesome!
