I’m a little late to the party, I know, but I finally did move over to the dark side (they didn’t even have cookies!).
I ordered an iPhone. Yes, I did. If all goes well it will be delivered today. Suffice to say I’m still praying to the Gods of postal services.
I did some iTunes searching and already got the standard apps; the instamatic, whatsapp and twitter stuff. Just the basics.
But now I just need to know what’s hot… and what’s not. What’s that one app you fell in love with, that makes your life easier and just brightens up your day?

Thanks for the list! I’m on it :)
Why dark side? :)
I highly recommend How To Cook Everything.
Wordfeud :P,
It’s online scrabble. It has totally nothing to do with cooking, but it’s quite addictive ..
Is not dark side – are coming into The Light!!
If you (read), Kindle app will allow you to
purchase books online at Amazon and then read
them on your iPhone. Can adjust size of text
and color of background. Always have a book
with no need to carry one! Also nice to share an
Amazon account with someone, so you are getting
2 reads of one book – it’s why I recommend Amazon
over iBooks or Nook. My mom and I share, all
legal, and it costs each of us 1/2 as much for
the same number of books.
Shopper is a little program that lets me make
grocery store lists – and organizes the list by
category – and then, I can email the list to
my SO, so that the shopping gets done. Really
nice.
Backgrounds and Backdrops are apps that have other
people’s photos available for downloading
that you can then use for the background
photo on your phone. Stunning work – although
you are clever enough to have stunning
photos of your own!!
Shazam can “listen” to a song playing on the radio
and then identify it for you – and you can then buy it
through the link to iTunes.
Jumbline is a word finding game which we all love.
HTH
I love flip pad.
If your site is wordpress there is an app for that to.
I love ziplist no more paper for grocery list and it works with all recipe sites.
AppsConefree tells you of free apps who far free for just a few days
sorry it’s AppsGonefree
This can only mean an Ipad purchase is not far off….
Yes dear. Would you believe I’m looking at iPads right now as we speak. Yes, you do believe that … I know you do:)
Well, you better order at least two….because the kiddo will be using it all the time.
I might just send him off to you. Uncle Sam’s pc central will probably make quite an impression :)
Ik voel een iPad-kookboek aankomen, jawel! ;-)
I highly recommend “voice search”! You can access any info you want…….even definitions of words, locales of places of business, maps, etc. just by asking your phone!!
Heard a song from the 50′s the other day and could not remember who sang it. I just asked my phone under voice search and it gave me the answer in 5 seconds!!!
Have fun experimenting!!
i like the ‘appie’ app (sorry, for dutchies only), if only for it’s fun barcode scanning option
INSTAGRAAAAM!
I have so been considering getting an iphone but haven’t made the leap to the “dark side” yet. I have an iPad and adore it (so does my kid and yes you’ll want two as someone else mentioned). A great photo app is snapseed. I heard Dragon dictation is great for voice to text that can be sms’d, emailed, etc. Let me know what you think of the phone…it just may be that little push I need to commit.
And you will love siri on the new iPhone. I don’t have any problems with Siri She loves me and I love her lol
In all honesty, I think Siri is a huge disappointment. I had voice control on my windows phone 7 and it opened apps, performed searches, I could start, address, dictate and send text messages with it.
Siri needs some work :)
Weight Watcher’s has a app that tells the points of food. also Fooducate – awesome site – grades food a – f. although all yours are A+. :)

‘Evernote’ is the one app I cannot live without – to me it’s more than a Notes Database, it’s my Life Management Tool! I live in ‘Evernote’ – and bit-by-bit it is helping me to live paperless. :))
I would probably die without Evernote and TeuxDeux, but if you already have a good note-taking service, you probably don’t need these.
One app I found incredibly useful is OurGroceries. It allows you to make a grocery list, and your husband can download it on his phone (iPhone or Android) and sign up with your account. That way you can share a grocery list, it syncs quickly and automatically, and you’ll never have to wonder if he already got the bread or if you should.
Welcome to the dark side. It really is an enlightened world.
My list is similar to others: Evernote, Drpbox, Waze, Find iPhone, Kindle, Solar Walk, TeuxDeux, and Jamie Oliver are favorites of mine.
I haven’t found a feed reader that works for me yet.
Enjoy your phone.
Ah see some pretty good suggestions above that I didn’t have yet.. :) Welcome to the Dark Side Kay… Hope you get to like your Iphone.. (you will, you will!)
