Strawberry Fizz

I know, I know … it’s not the season! I just can’t help myself :)

It’s simply one of the best smoothies around; strawberry & banana smoothie. So terribly classic, yet so good. I really crave one every now and then—even though the berries aren’t nearly as tasty as they should be this time of year.

To make a great strawberry smoothie you simply have to find the right combination of fruits, without ruining the flavor of the strawberries. Banana is good; strawberries & banana create magic together. What a lot of people don’t know, though, is how scrumptious it can be to add a splash of fresh orange juice! I like this combo.

Ingredients:

5 big strawberries
1 banana
1 orange
3/4 cup milk
3 ice cubes
1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Optional: sugar

Directions:

Well, it’s going to be a terribly pink posting anyway, so I might as well let you stop and smell the roses first. Oh wait; they’re tulips. Never mind.

Wash your strawberries—-you never know what grubby (little) hands were all over them.

Squeeze that orange! It’ll add some zing to your smoothie, not to mention vitamin C.

Cut the strawberries and banana in small pieces. The strawberries were so fragrant!

Break out the blender and pour the orange juice in there. Add 3/4 cup of cold milk. I went for low fat milk.

Put the strawberries and banana in the blender, pour in 1/4 tsp vanilla extract and dig 3 ice cubes out of your freezer. If you like it sweet, you can add some sugar as well.

Blitz until it’s a smooth, pink concoction. Love the color—guess I’ve passed the tomboy phase after all!

Nothing beats a good smoothie on a dreary morning. Cheers!
