And so it is, we won 3-2 over Uruguay and have now reached the World Cup final where a 32-year wait ends. YES! Let me gloat for just one short moment.

Okay, I’m done now.

Oh boy, what a game. Aside from the fact it’s really no punishment to watch all those darn sexy guys run around a field all sweaty (I’m a girl. Sue me) for 90 minutes, the game itself kept me at the edge of my seat, biting my nails, yelling, cussing, cheering, twittering and generally going berserk all at once… until Sneyder made that goal! That one brilliant goal! Whew, those Uruguayans sure shut down our defense for most of the 2nd half and didn’t give an inch, but we still won.

There were fireworks all over Gouda right after the game, and people were partying in the streets. Not to mention the sound of 3 million vuvuzela’s in the city. Disclaimer: if you read anything in your local newspaper about weighted bodies floating in a river nearby Gouda, it wasn’t me. I swear! No really!

Our guys now won 10 straight and are unbeaten in their last 25 games, just how amazing is that? I still can’t believe it. We’re such a teeny tiny country, a speck on the map, and what they are doing over there is so grand. No matter what happens from hereon, no matter who wins that dang cup, let it be known that I am terribly, crazy proud of what our guys are achieving there in South Africa. How far they came and how determined they are. And now… now IT MIGHT JUST HAPPEN!
