And one more old guestpost revived on Kayotic Kitchen. Not just because my kiddo came down with H1N1 flu and is very sick, but also because it would be close to a venial sin to let this recipe go to waste.
Old and bad photography, but a wonderfully simple and tasty recipe. This dessert hits all the right spots and—when strawberries are in season—won’t break the bank. Must say that this is my favorite dessert. And that means something coming from me, the woman who seldom to never eats dessert.
Make this with a few leftover cookies (yeah, I know: none of you have any leftover cookies, ever. Right?) and eat it straight from the oven with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream and you’ll be just as hooked as I am.
Ingredients:
8 oz fresh strawberries
4 chocolate chip cookies
1 heaping tsp orange zest
1 tbsp sugar (or vanilla sugar)
1 tbsp melted butter
vanilla yogurt or ice cream (optional)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350F° (175C°).
You’ll need a heaping tsp orange zest. This will do yummy things to the flavor.

I like photos of swimming fruit, But well, washing fruit before you eat it is kind of important, too.

Remove the crown and slice the strawberries in half. Cut the really big ones in four and add them to the orange zest.

Sprinkle the granulated sugar on top of the berries.

Dig your hands in there and mix it all up. Then lick your fingers, just because you can.

Go wash your hands now. Come on, you licked your fingers! I know you did.
The cookies. You can use any kind of cookies for this, but choc chip works so well. Match made in gustatory heaven. These were (if I remember correctly) cranberry and white chocolate cookies.

Grab yourself an oven dish or individual dishes. Place the strawberries in there and mix them up with coarsely crumbled cookies.

Drizzle the melted butter all over.

Pop it in the oven and bake at 350F° (175C°) for 7 minutes. This will smell insanely good.
Serve with whipping cream, ice cream or unsweetened vanilla yogurt, which is my favorite. The warm crunchy cookies and soft sweet strawberries against the cool yoghurt is delicious.
