Just a quick post to say a huge thanks for all the incredibly sweet well wishes, emails, tweets, book recommendations and wonderful comments over the past six weeks! You guys really kept my spirits up!
Just had my 6 week post surgery x-ray and everything looked splendid! Bones have healed properly and I got the green light to start walking again.
Surprised me a lot; initially I was told I would only be allowed partial weight bearing for the next few weeks. I guess the workouts I gave my ankle with the resistance band and all the alphabet writing in the sky did pay off in the end.
Just took my very first steps. First step my leg kinda crashed and I was very insecure, but after those initial baby steps I slowly picked up on it again and it didn’t feel entirely uncomfortable/painful, not more than expected. It just feels so good to be back on my feet again.
Still walking with crutches and I’ll start PT therapy soon. Much needed PT. Not there yet and still have a long way to go before I’ll be out running again, but slowly I’m getting there!
Promised to keep you posted. Three weeks post surgery now. Was in a wee bit more pain than I had anticipated (It’s not that I’m a wuss, I just don’t like pain) and recovery is gonna take a while and will be slow and painful after a trimalleolar fracture, or so I’ve been told.
