Super Bowl Sunday Grub!

Filed under: Home — Kay @ 6:39 pm

Super bowl Sunday is this weekend, right? If it wouldn’t be so darn late (Holland time) I’d probably stay up to find myself glued to the tv, possibly even yelling at it. I love American football. I don’t get it—it kinda looks like wrestling with crash helmets—but I like it! Whoa Nelly, check out those tight pants! Pure testosterone heaven. Never been a girly girl, or maybe I am, and that’s why I like the tight pants the game so much.

Alas, I need every bit of energy I can get get during the day with that little tornado I’ve birthed. I’m lucky if I manage to keep my eyes pried open long enough to fold some laundry at night, much less stay up to watch sports! But… I’m definitely not gonna leave you without a few Super bowl grub ideas!

What are you guy/gals feeding the hungry super bowl crowd?

    Like you, I’m the wrong side of the ocean this time, but the previous couple of years I was lucky to be in California, attending Super Bowl Parties. Lots of snack food, your menu looks great, but you left out the Mexican 7 layer dip and tortilla chips!

    @Nick:

    Shoot, I knew I’d forgotten a recipe. The 7 layered dip!

    I’m planning on making your Savory Party Bread, now I might throw the Nigerian Suya in there too. It looks really good!

    Well since we are rooting for the Saints in this house I’m making cajun food. Shrimp Po’boys and maybe a Sweet Potato Pie. My husband loves stuffed jalapenos so I’m sure I’ll make some of those too.

    I don’t like U.S. football and don’t plan to do anything special for that day, but i do like the list of food you’ve listed! YUM! I’m going to take a look at the Sloppy Joes right now.

    I normally wouldn’t stay up for the game (didn’t last year), but since the Saints are finally in the Superbowl for the first time ever — and I’ve been a fan of them for 20 years now — I’m going to do my best to watch the game. Probably won’t be eating during it, though. Will probably be too nervous to eat anyway!

    I’ll be taking your Savory Party Bread to my Super Bowl party. I made it for my neighbor’s birthday party, the same one hosting the Super Bowl party, and was told I was not allowed through the door with these. I think I better double the recipe!

    I meant to say in my previous comment that I wasn’t allowed over WITH OUT these.

    A couple of other sites I read mentioned that you can replace fish sauce with light soy sauce. I have the same problem in being allergic to fish sauce. Lime juice added to this would also work well with this recipe.
