Summer Rose

Summer Rose

I had way too much fun making this recipe.

We were trying to create milkshakes for grown-ups. You know; something easy, tasty and colorful to serve on a hot summer’s day. A fun way to enjoy life’s little luxuries.

Now, I’ll spare you all the unusual and sometimes even crazy combinations we tried over the weekend—it was hilarious—though I’m tempted to post one or two in the weeks to come. But this one turned out to be the one for me.

What’s a summer rose, you ask? Well, think of it as a strawberry cheesecake milkshake… with a shot of tequila. Simply delicious.

Ingredients:

1/2 a cup (100ml) Häagen-Dazs® Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream
5 or 6 big, ripe strawberries
3 tbsp silver tequila
3 tbsp ice-cold milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp white castor sugar

Directions:

* these quantities are enough for one milkshake.

First strawberries I bought this year. Didn’t expect them to be so sweet and full of flavor already.
Summer Rose

Cut each strawberry in 4 parts.
Summer Rose

Believe it or not, but I don’t have blender. I do have a blender ring for my food processor.
Summer Rose

Need I say more?
Summer Rose

Didn’t think so.

I used these small, 100ml ice cream packs because they contain 3 scoops each. One pack per person.
Summer Rose

Put the ice cream in your blender or food processor. See all those pieces of crust in there? Delicious.
Summer Rose

Add the strawberries and tequila. Feel free to use less tequila, just replace whatever you leave out with more milk.
Summer Rose

Add the cold milk.
Summer Rose

Sprinkle the sugar in there and pour in the vanilla extract.
Summer Rose

You can add two or three ice cubes if you want the shake to be really, really cold.

Blitz until the strawberries are thoroughly blended.
Summer Rose

Pour in a pretty glass. Garnish with strawberries, mint and a straw. That’s it. Will take you 2 minutes tops.

This is such a perfect, refreshing ending to a summer BBQ feast.

Looks so delicious. Have to try it. But I don’t have strawberry cheesecake ice cream. Can I just use cream cheese and strawberry ice cream? What would be the proportions?

      1. No idea what the proportions would have to be. We only tried it with this ice cream.

So far all I have for this recipe is the silver tequila, vanilla and the milk….but you can bet by tomorrow I’ll have the rest of the ingredients!  This sounds delightful!

Hi, Kay!! We love, love, love your recipes.  The Chicken Palava is our particular fave.  My husband and I have a shared Pinterest board so I can pin recipes, send him a text, and then he knows what to grocery shop for.  It’s an awesome system for us.  So I’m wondering why we can no longer pin from your recipes any longer??
      Thanks!

      1. Sure you can. There’s even a ‘Pin this’ button below every recipe!

Gotcha!  I didn’t even notice that little button.  The “Pin It” that is in my bookmark header isn’t working, but the button below the recipes works great!  thanks!

We have dairy allergies in our house, so I’m thinking strawberry “ice cream” with some chunks of graham cracker thrown in plus some soy milk and fresh strawberries – I’m betting the four year old is going to love it!  As for me…I will definitely be adding tequila to my milkshakes from now on! Great Idea!

      1. I was actually thinking the same thing earlier this week. Might even add some cream cheese to see if I can create an even deeper cheesecake flavor.
