I'm a professional pastry chef and have always just purchased speculaas spice. I love that you have a recipe so I can replicated it at home. Speculaas pound cake was a creation one day. Just make your usual pound cake recipe. Divide batter in half and mix some spice into 1/2 of the batter. Swirl the 2 halves and bake as usual. Enjoy!

I’m so happy you posted this spice mix. I came across a variety of beautifully carved speculaas molds while searching for springerle boards. I used to love “windmill” cookies growing up and thought it would be nice to make them myself. I used the recipe for speculaas that came with the molds but it just wasn’t spicy enough for me nor did the cookies taste like the ones from my childhood. This spice mix does the trick. Thank you!

[...] Recipe: Spiced Fruit Chutney By james, on October 19th, 2010 One of my favourite additions to sandwiches at lunchtime has to be a decent chutney. One of my favourites is “Albert’s Victorian Fruit Chutney” by Baxters which is a really versatile chutney suitable for everything from Ploughman’s through to salads. With this in mind I went in search of a recipe that would provide a similar result (especially since I had been given a couple of bags of Bramley cooking apples by the in-laws!). The recipe I finally settled on and adapted slightly came from here, with the Speculaas spices made to the recipe here.
This is wonderful. I usually make my own spice blends for this type of baking, but I found a better than my home made version from Adult Indulgences Custom Spice Blends. I found them on ETSY and they have THE most incredible blends I found anywhere. In fact, the spices you listed are listed in some of their blends, namely their OH India blend. I buy it constantly. I even used it (don't tell them) in some scented candles I made and WOW. Those spices you have listed are incredible!

Ohh..thank you for this Kaye! I adore cookies made with this (can buy them at Ikea LOL). I was a nanny in Germany for two years and discovered this spice and can't stop eating anything made with it.
I am definitely going to make this and use it for my Christmas Baking!

Thanks for sharing your homemade version of this spice mix. Homemade mixes are always so much better than the store bought mass produced and always so much fresher. This will be great in a variety of baked goods.

Thank you for this! I have purchased speculaas cookies almost everytime I go to Amsterdam (8 trips down) and always believed a homemade cookie would be better. Now I have what I need to get baking...
