New Years Eve Favorites

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kay @ 9:03 am

It’s almost New Year’s Eve! Put the champagne on ice and get the beer cold. Party time!

I’m already stocking up on snack ideas as well. Grocery shopping will be pure hell and agita inducing for me, but kinda fun for the munchkin since this is the first year he’ll be actively involved in the preperations and is really looking foward to it. Last year he managed to sleep through the fireworks, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to at least wake him before midnight this year.

Here’s a small selection of snack recipes to get you started! If you have fun snack recipe to share, or want to link to a specific recipe in your own (food) blog, feel free to slap it up in the comment section!

Mini pizzas. Who doesn’t love them?

This Mexican layered dip will rock your world!

There will be hummus on my table. One with roasted peppers. My favorite.

Different versions, too. Hummus meets Baba Ghanoush.

(There’s one more version, a creamy hummus with tomatoes, on the site)

And crunchy bread topped with pesto rosso.

Chile con Queso the Kayotic way!

You can’t go wrong with these pepper & corn pies.

Spanish Varillas are a definite crowd pleaser.

Can you tell I love puff pastry? These Delicioso Chorizo will be a huge hit.

What about pretty herbed bread sticks?

And my all-time favorites: chicken puff samosas.

And of course, the mother of all snacks, Bitterballen.

Whatever it is you’ll be serving, I hope you and your loved ones will have a wonderful New Years Eve, full of laughter and fun. Followed by a fresh new year filled with all the health, happiness and love a human heart can muster. May the best of your past be the worst of your future.

Happy and bright 2010!

~Kay

Happiest New Year to you and yours, Kay! Thank you for a year of exciting, ever interesting – wonderful recipes. I was going to make split pea soup, my old way – and thought “NO – you have made Kay’s the last two times, and THAT is the best!” — :D

Thank you for answering my question about the recipe cards. :)

Looks like you’ve got quite the spread for New Year’s.

I am celebrating with my family in their home, so I’m just bringing a few “chip ‘n dip”-style appetizers; these are what I’ll be contributing:

      Guacamole (with store-bought tortilla chips) = http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Guacamole/Detail.aspx

Spinach dip w/water chestnuts (served with crackers) = http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Spinach-Dip-with-Water-Chestnuts/Detail.aspx

      Fruit salsa w/cinnamon chips = http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Annies-Fruit-Salsa-and-Cinnamon-Chips/Detail.aspx

      Happy new year!

A very happy and successful New Year to you, Kay! All these recipes would be absolutely wonderful on a New Year’s Eve party table. Here’s one of my own that someone might like, too:

Tomato and Goat Cheese Tarts: http://www.lanascooking.com/2009/03/28/bb-tomato-and-goat-cheese-tarts/ These can be made in a mini size using a small cutter and slices of plum tomato.

Thanks for the ideas! I was still looking for one or two last minute ideas to round out the feast tonight – but I shall look no more! I love puff pastry as well, and thankfully have some in the freezer, so I think the Delicioso Chorizo and mini pizzas on puff pastry will be on the menu for sure!
