I found the cutest thing for all you cookie fanatics out there: a Dutch cookie care package!
It’s a small packet Speculaas seasoning (The real deal, baby! Old-school Dutch seasoning), and a wooden mould in the form of a windmill or Dutch girl to shape the cookies with.
Simply had to buy a few of them as giveaways on Kayotic Kitchen—nothing ever seemed more appropriate.
I bought myself one, too, just so I could put it to the test and that’s how I know these spices are the real deal. So far everyone who has walked through my front door stuck their nose up in the air to take a whiff. My house still smells like a gingerbread house!
No worries. If needed, I’ll translate the recipe for you.
The windmill didn’t hold the details all too well during my baking session—I think I made my cookies too thick—but they sure tasted and smelled absolutely fabulous.
Want to get a taste of our Dutch pastry and let your house smell like that, too? Just answer the following question.
“What are your favorite cookies?”
I’m giving away two of these cookie care packages. No entries after Monday July 11th, and only one entry per person, please!
Oh yay! This looks like a lot of fun. We have a cookie bakery near our house and my favorite cookies are the s’more and the carmello.
The s’more has a graham square on the bottom and chocolate chunks and marshmallows in the dough. The carmello has ooey gooey carmello pieces (I think) mixed in with the cookie dough (chocolate and caramel). Mmmm….
Now you’re making me hungry. And I don’t even like sweet foods :)
My favorite cookies are Korova (or World Peace) Cookies, but speculoos come a close second!
I’d love to try the authentic spice blend!
Oh my God this is too exciting. Its impossible to find the speculaas moulds here.
My favourite cookies are Romany Creams which are like a coconut and chocolate sandwich cookie around a chocolate cream which sounds thoroughly dull an uninteresting, and I don’t really eat very many other chocolate cookies, but I love them. They’re originally South African and have only recently started selling them in England and I’m totally over the moon.
Hello Kay. Thanks for this cute giveaway. My mom used to make sugar cookies then frost them with pink peppermint buttercream then sprinkle with crushed peppermint candies. They only were made at Christmas and I have good memories of making them with Mom.
My favorite cookies will always be Mexican Wedding Cakes. They’re a little salty, a little sweet, supremely buttery and altogether delicious. My mom made them every year for Christmas, and now I do too.
I love the Belgian Lotus brand cookies …all of them. I grew up loving a cookie my mom made which she incorrectly called Yon Hockles… but we learned were Jan Hagel’s!! ;) What a fun give-away!! Thanks for the opportunity.
I’ve had real Dutch Speculaas cookies and they are wonderful. I would love to be able to make my own at home. One of my favorite cookies to make is authentic Irish-Scottish Shortbread cookies from an heirloom recipe handed down in my family. Thanks for this awesome giveaway.

Call me simple but a good chocolate chip cookie is the way to go for me. I just have one requirement, they have to be soft and gooey. I hate it when the cookies get all hard and crunchy!
My favourite cookies are chocolate chip cookies :D but not any kind, homemade are better than any commercial brand’s plastic ones mmmmmm… Also, butter cookies, you know, the kind you put in your mouth and they softly crumble into a sweet kind of heaven in your mouth!! Oh! and speculaas mmmmm….
I’m wondering what are these mexican wedding cakes? o.O I’ve never heard of them.
Anyhow, if I don’t win a pack, would you tell me where you bought it? Pretty please! :P I’d love to make them, specially after I leave Holland.
Oh, that is an awesome giveaway! Difficult to say as I’m a cookie addict… My all-time favorite cookies are “Coffee Kisses”.
Cheers,
Rosa
My all time favourite are the simplest and tastest cookies me and my mom vere making since I was kid. These have only 4 ingredients: 3 big eggs, cup of sugar, cup of flour and handfull of poppy seeds. Mix and fold with spoon like little coins. They are crispy and delightfull! It’s not very authentic, but delicious.
My favorite is apricot kolachy, but these run a pretty close second. I them with slivered almonds in them. Oh with a cold glass of milk. Yummy.
Our favorit cookie is the snickers cookie.
A peanut butter cookie with a piece of snickers inside.
My all-time favorite cookies are Snikerdoodles…and they are SO loved by the Dutch! I bake often for my colleagues and snikerdoodles are requested more than even brownies! A few weeks ago I brought them in with me for the nurses where I get my chemo and MAN! Before I knew it, the entire boxfull were empty! They LOVED them! (me too!)
Great giveaway! The shapes make me nostalgic for the cookies my Oma used to pick up from the Dutch Store in Canada–needless to say, those gingerbread-and-almond biscuits were favourites of mine, growing up.
Ginger cookies are my all time favourite ! Those moulds are really the cutest !!
Choc chip cookies all the way!
My granddaughter calls me the “Cookie Boss”. I love making cookies and collecting recipes. At Christmas time I produce quite a collection of cookies for the family. I would love to add Koularakia , a greek cookie, is the one I reach for to enjoy with a cup of tea. I would love to add Speculaas to my list this Christmas.
Thanks for the great giveaway! I would love a recipe for speculoos pasta–the spread that tastes like the cookies. I bought a jar the last time I was in the Netherlands, but it’s long gone.
My favorite cookies are chocolate chip cookies!
That’s a recipe I doubt anyone will be able to give you. I’d pay good money to have that recipe :)
I really enjoy speculoos and all american cookies. I don’t find anywhere these kind of cookies here(Romania). For us is something rare and delicious, we eat them only sunday afternoon with cold milk.
Our favorite is the old fashioned peanut butter cookie….Yum, Yum!
My favorite cookie recipe is a peanut butter cookie filled with peanut butter frosting and glazed with chocolate icing. It’s wonderful, and takes way too long to make. :-)
oatmeal chocolate chip!
What a hard question!! Especially since I’ve recently had to stop eating wheat, and all my baking has changed!! I used to love my chocolate chip cookies, but they just aren’t the same with gluten-free flour. I love my date & oat cookies (as a variation of oatmeal & raisin), but my favourite whether they’re made with wheat flour or gluten-free are my gingernuts. They’re always awesome, and go so well with a cup of tea. And ou can blitz them up to make a cheesecake base!
What a unique item! Thank you for the giveaway :)
