I know this is a year and a half after the posting, but I just found your web site and am in the process of printing out (almost) every single recipie :p

No not really, but Dutch cooking seems to agree with my Icelandic palette and everything on there seems easy and good and tasty.

This, with an addition of chicken breast is my all time favorite sandwich of all time.
I make this all the time, but instead of butter I put a little mayo on it.
Mayo, salad, tomato, bacon, chicken breast... it's heaven!

Wow, I must try your sandwich one of these days, it looks so good! One of my favourite sandwiches is a part-baked bun, filled with gouda cheese and tomato slices, sprinkled with salt, pepper and 'Italiaanse kruiden' (thyme, oregano, basil). Then you pop it in the oven until the bread is done, or prepare it like a toastie in one of those oldschool crossovers between a toastie-iron and a grill plate. Totally awesome lunch or breakfast for me :)

This is almost my favorite. Rye bread WITH caraway seeds in, toasted of course, lightly spread it with mayo, romaine or butter lettuce, lots of tomato slices, good helping of bacon, and plenty of avocado. I usually mush it up inside the skin so I can use it as a spread. Freshly ground pepper of course.

what a great array of sandwich ideas here..............we do your BLT Kay but use a chipotle spread instead of mayo, gives it a kick of flavor, love it with grilled red peppers also.

your site is so refreshing , easy to read and follow I love it.

@Laura K.:

Girl, if you live here, you really gotta start learning a little more about Dutch foods :)

What you're talking about is something called Zeeuws Spek. It's not raw bacon. It's actually either slowcooked with salt, pepper and bay leaves, or marinated with mustard, garlic, pepper etc and grilled/roasted.

My favorites are a Hot Brown sandwich-- turkey bacon, cheese sauce on a brioche loaf rather than regular bread, or a roast beef on hot water cornbread with gravy. Both very Kentucky things. But I think that yours sounds super good, and I'll make it for lunch tomorrow.
