I’m always asked what my favorite blog recipe is. And honestly, I don’t have one favorite recipe. There are so many of them it’s impossible to pick just one. A lot of the recipes in my blog are staple recipes in our home. Some are cooked more often than others, but generally most of these recipes are in our regular rotation.
There are a few that stand out, though. Even for me. These are among my absolute favorites.
This is THE one for me. Home-made flavored butter. You won’t believe how crazy good, light and fresh butter can taste when you make it yourself. Unlike anything store bought. If you haven’t tried it yet, you really, really should.
If I could have one more meal, the last one before leaving this earth, it would be Roti Chicken.
In my humble opinion, this is the best darn egg salad ever. A real flavor bomb.
Nothing in this world beats a really good roast chicken with flavorful and crispy vegetables. Nothing.
I was absolutely blown away by the flavors in this simple sausage recipe. It was nothing short of spectacular. If you think you can’t cook, give this one a try next time you have guests. They’ll be singing your praises.

Beef Sausages & Balsamic Tomatoes
I must have made these a dozen times by now. They never fail me. The scent that fills the kitchen and the house when I prepare these crazy simple Moroccan onions makes everyone walking through our front door stop dead in their tracks. I’m not even kidding, it really does.
Twice baked potatoes are a delicious side-dish to pretty much any meal, but they can be bland and kinda boring when you work with just cheese and cream. So I gave them a slight Italian twist. It worked. Oh boy, did it work alright!
Home made bread is comfort food deluxe. It screams love. Kids remember coming home to the scent of fresh baked bread, at least I did. Somehow it creates childhood memories. This is a fool-proof and irresistible recipe for Focaccia with garlic, rosemary, olives, red onion and sea salt!
Last but definitely not least a fairly new recipe. I’m totally addicted to this Ribollita. I use whatever vegetables have to be used up for this soup, and it just works every time. Cheap, healthy and really good.

Kay,
I have at least a couple of favorites from your kitchen. One is the one that first brought me to your blog, Kay’s Roasted Potatoes, which I saw on Pioneer Woman.
Another I really like is your Yakitori recipe. I spent some time in Japan many years ago and loved eating Yakitori on the street and now, living in Thailand, I make your recipe and serve it with the readily available satay sauce.
There are several others, including the one that didn’t kill the boys after boiling the cans of evaporated (or is it condensed?) milk, your Parmesan Cottage Potatoes, and the Chinese Scallion Pancakes, among others.
As a refugee from Texas, now calling Thailand home, I read Homesick Texan and your blog regularly. I can’t always get, or can afford the import prices for some of the things you and Lisa use, but I get lots of ideas and that’s what makes time in the kitchen fun.
Keep it up and I’ve really got to try that Focaccia as I want the boys to have similar memories.
Cheers.

Hi Kay,
Was wondering if you can explain what seasonings are in the beef sausage you use in the recipe above. Trying to figure out how Polish sausage would work. Not sure we have beef sausage here in Georgia USA.
Looks fantastic! Thanks!

@Debbie:
I have no idea what exactly they put in there. I buy mine at the butchershop. It tastes like a spice blend made from pepper, salt, sweet paprika, and some other things. But really, any type of sausage would work for this!

@Kath:
Couldn’t believe you guys actually have snow there. I’ve been walking around in a t-shirt! Which is kinda crazy for Holland this time of year.

One of my favorites is your Kaytucky Chicken (http://www.kayotic.nl/blog/?p=3708), my fiance calls it ‘the puff chicken’ and requests it all the time. You also have a recipe for Parmesan crusted chicken, which may have originally been on the Pioneer Woman’s site, that is delicious. I couldn’t find it on your site or her’s to link to, but I have it printed out at home!
