One of the cons to living in the Netherlands and especially the Randstad (conurbation) is that the houses are relatively small and oftentimes have such undersized living rooms that I just don’t know where to fit a huge Christmas tree in here. Especially not since I bought a decent sized corner sofa.
At first glance this might look like a full-size tree. Probably due to the angle I took the photo in. But don’t be fooled: the tree is even a tad smaller than J-man is. Problem solved. And I even get to store it in the attic completely decorated which has proven to be a huge time saver!
What size is your tree?

Must tell u, the title of your posts are very interesting :)
I was tempted to include a ‘but size doesn’t matter’ :)
Too Funny !!!!
I compensate for small rooms by putting small trees in more than one room. And the one in my office is silver for maximum sparkle when I have to do that boring WORK thing.
Ha ha! Mine is about the same height as me, but fake and fits into a surprisingly small box. I re-arrange furniture to make it fit in because I am crazy about Christmas.
We have two trees and both are 3 ft and less. I have each setting on a table top to keep the dogs from using them as toys… LOL
My sister gave us a 2m tall tree for xmas a few years back, damn its a bugger to pull out and set up! We dont really have attics here but its a great idea storing it that way.
Mine is small too! Are you on instagram? You should be. We’d have to much fun.
I need to learn how to create that super cute picture on the right. I see it everywhere and I NEED TO DO IT.
Love your tree~!
Still don’t have an iPhone. Have to renew my phone plan so am due for another phone and I’m contemplating one… but wow, they’re expensive here!
And just to clarify, that was supposed to say “SO” much fun. Not “to” because now it looks like I don’t know the difference between “to” and “too.”
Thank you and goodbye. :)
I have a twelve foot tree that is real and smells delicious.
We manage a Chritsmas Tree lot in Southern California so my trees are fresh and easy to come by. I might add it will be near 80 degrees her on Christmas day. YIKES!!
We have a three foot (or maybe less) fake tree so we put it up on a table so it can be seen from outside. We put some of our many nativities on the table with it and the presents go one the floor under the table. It seems strange but works for us in this new small home.
We just for the first time bought a 6-foot tall fake tree–when we lived in Japan we had a very tiny one on a table. (I’m allergic to real ones–they make me sneeze!) I love how you keep your decorations on it in your attic–must be a big time saver. It’s lovely, btw!
7 feet! I only rent apartments that have room for a Christmas tree. People think I like dancing or exercising in the living room the rest of the year - nope – it is Christmas space. I have over 800 lights on the tree this year alone and I have forgotten how many decorations. :)
I so need to see a photo of that tree of yours. 800 lights? Holy cow… that’s bound to look like the burning of Atlanta :)
How can I send you a pic?
Yes! I want to see it! :)
7 feet and fake…it’s too big for our current house but I make it work. Love your bokeh shot. I need to learn how to do that.
That’s dead simple. If you want to get all bokeh just use a manual focus and turn the lens focus ring until you get the bokeh lights.
Awesome! Mine is small like yours–probably around knee height (or under!). A lot of decorating stresses me out, so we’ve limited ourselves to twinkle lights around the windows and the tiny tree. =)
One of the trees is 8 feet tall– and I have to admit has probably too many lights. I believe it has around 1800 lights, colored bulbs that just don’t glow as brightly, on it. (18 sets at 100 lights each). The other tree is only 7 feet and has less lights, all white, I think there’s only 800 to a 1000 lights on it. I have a third tree that I didn’t put up this year– the room it goes in had a water leak and just wasn’t ready for a tree! You can see part of the 7 ft. tall tree in this photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sndebruijn/6496118829/in/set-72157628380564545
Omg, it’s gorgeous! J-man would love all the ornaments.
Thanks! I’ve found photos from a few years ago of the bigger tree:

All the ornaments are Hallmark–from a collection that my mother started for me when I was born and I continue to add to it every year. Hence, I now have two trees for this collection!
And the one that didn’t get put up this year but will make a comeback next year:

We have an eight foot tree. It has two sets of lights – one is red, white and green. The other is little snowmen. Most of the ornaments were gifts to my three children – so of course it takes most of the day to decorate as each ornament has a sentimental place in my heart. They’re 34, 29 and 26 years old. We even have a few that our grandson made. It’s a virtual trip down memory lane. We even saved the original tag that came with the tree and it has a place in the front. We also have an autographed photo of MR. “T” from the A-Team. When they were on tv my daughter loved him and sent a letter inviting him to dinner – that child waited every day for the A-Team van to show up with Mr. T in it. ha ha So his picture goes right on the front each year!
We have a 6 foot pre-lit tree. I wish so much I could put it away decorated! That would be awesome. Your tree is beautiful.
I love your little tree! It is so pretty too. I have to say that we have a huge (fake) tree that I love because it is pre-lit! For many years, I went crazy trying to put lights on our real trees. I was so excited when they came out with prelit trees, I didn’t care if it was fake. It is about 7 feet tall and only fits in 2 spots in our house, but oh well…It is not about the size is it? ;) Merry Christmas!!
