It Is That Time Again!

Gouda

What time? After dinner walk time, of course. I’m telling you, I’ve been looking forward to it all year: that time of year when you just put your shoes on after dinner, grab your camera (and kid) and go for a stroll in a park that’s bathed in the golden rays of the setting sun. Really picturesque, I know, but it sure makes me wonder when it was that I became this bourgeois? Not that it’s a bad thing, don’t get me wrong, but I guess the winter’s been long and cold.

Don’t worry… I only need a few hours of Amsterdam/Rotterdam nightlife one of these days and I’ll be fine. It’s all about balancing things!

It’s been really great here. Sunny but not too warm. Windy, though. Especially windy. I love windy weather.

Hatching season, all those birds are shacked up in their little love nests so mowing the grass would constitute something of a massacre. I can only say the tall grass sure makes for real pretty pictures.
Gouda

Fields of gold and green as far as the eye can see. Am I blessed to live here or what?
Gouda

Check out how big my little man is getting. This is the same fence I took photos of him last year. He looks so much more mature to me now. Where did the time go?
Gouda

It was getting late but we did walk across one of the big fields in the park, mainly because I love it there. I have a tendency to hum Sting’s ‘Fields of gold’, when I walk here. Just be glad it’s humming and not singing. I couldn’t sing a song of my life depended on it.

Mom, can I take the yellow path?”, he asked me. For the life of me, I had no idea what he meant by that and then I saw it. I’m still amazed how perceptive kids are to the world around them. Do you see it?
Gouda

And he walked down the yellow path. I think he watched a little too much Dora. Until a few months ago, out of the blue, he decided Dora was more for girls. No clue where he gets that from.

So here we were, soaking up some sun, letting the wind blow through our hair and minding our own business.
Gouda

I gotta admit, I was really enjoying the light outside today. Just check out the light fall in this shot. Isn’t is spectacular?

And then we headed home.

And ran into this. Not sure if it saddens or angers me. In the Netherlands we get our advertisement folders delivered to our mailbox, if we want to that is. This was probably some punk boy or girl who took on a vacation job delivering those folders and not being in the mood to actually work. So they just dumped tons of paperwork into the ditch and bushes cluttering the place.

People and nature just don’t match. Why on earth would anyone do this? It sucks.

That young man of yours gets more and more handsome every time you post a photo of him. What a heartbreaker he’s going to be! Love your sharing your after dinner walk with us. Everyone should live in such a beautiful place. And whoever dumped those advertising flyers should be well and truly ashamed of themselves!

Your J-man is so photogenic, his personality just jumps out of the picture.
Thanks for sharing your neighborhood. Love to see different areas of places I’ve never been.
Terrible about the litter. So sad when people don’t care about their own environment.
      Lovely pics.

If you love wind, come to Oklahoma.  WE’VE got WIND!!    So much wind that we’ve also got lots of those wind power windmills dotting the landscape.  I think they are beautiful.
