Have I been missing in action or what? No worries, I didn’t just sit here, pick my toes, and be a major slacker. Thing is, for the past week and a half my house looked like it has been struck by a hurricane. And not some half-assed F1 either.
Things really came to a head when my new furniture arrived yesterday. They made me wait for nearly 4 months—I guess they still had to grow the trees—but it was worth the wait: it’s absolutely gorgeous. Pretty as it all is, it also came with an insane amount of plastic wrap and cardboard boxes. I can now make my very own cardboard sculpture. Go me!
Finally it’s all coming together even though the mess is driving me stir crazy (I’m a Virgo. Need I say more?). Still haven’t found the right painting and lamps yet. If you know someone who does amazing abstract acrylic paintings, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
I’m gonna be doing lots of cooking around here in the days to come. ‘Bout time, I say. But for now I’m just gonna sit on my new oversized couch that will take months to get even slightly comfy, and wait for this dinosaur egg to hatch.
Priorities people, priorities!

Glad to hear you’re still around :) You might want to take a look at my aunt’s website http://www.petrahoos.nl/index.php?option=com_easygallery&Itemid=41. She is a painter and I always liked her abstract work. She made one for me too. I especially like this one, for example http://www.petrahoos.nl/index.php?option=com_easygallery&act=photos&cid=62&Itemid=41. I know her gallery isn’t updated recently, but it gives you a pretty good idea of her work.
Uhm, for some reason the links I just posted link back to your own website. Anyway, when you go to http://www.petrahoos.nl you can find the gallery. The one I especially liked was http://www.petrahoos.nl/images/stories/easygallery/resized/14/1174166625_skylineingrid.jpg.
Here’s a website that might help with the lamps and splashes of color in your garden. http://www.wildprairie.com/.
Best of luck in your new home.
If you want an abstract painting buy a stretched canvas and some acrylic paint at the local craft store and have at! If your not sure what to paint squint at a favorite photograph and fill in the basic shapes and colors.
@ Betty:
Actually, that’s not even a bad idea. Could also let my son do it. That would probably make it even more fun.
I want to see pictures of your furniture Kay! Don’t keep us in suspense!
I say paint your own too!
@The Lunch Lady:
Here’s a quick shot.
I’ll take better shots when we’re all done and it’s all complete. We opted for steamed oak. Real sturdy, pretty timeless and this particular line is part of a so-called FCS program. It’s all wood from plantations certified for responsible forest management.
This artist does some beautiful work:

@ Cooking with Michele:
I’m drooling here. That’s exactly what I was looking for. Too bad the gallery is on the other side of the world :(
I love the look! Can’t wait to see more.
Oh, forgot, where did he get the egg?
@Teri:
He got it from one of his little buddies down the street. Not sure how he does it, but he gives people a few cute looks and then those suckers fall for the trick and buy him lots of stuff. Like dinosaur tattoos, Zingo games, orange bubbles and more.
*devious smile*

@ Kameleon:
Just quickly scanned the page and nice paintings but whoa, those are some hefty prices! The size I need it in would be between E3500 and E7000 for a painting. I would never spend that much money on a painting.
Can’t wait to see all the furniture pictures, hope you share!
Still no baby dinosaur? The new furniture looks good!
@Simone:
J-man is now the proud dad of a baby triceratops :)
Dinosaur egg? Baby Triceratops? What have I missed? Our 4 yo twins would be enthralled! I thought I’d never get to use my computer for anything else after they saw J-man’s pet crab’s accomodations.
Your furniture is lovely. Can’t wait to see more.
