Happy Blogoversary to Me!

Thanks for entering, everyone! Back from vacation and ready to rock and roll again! Well, ready is a big word, but I sure feel more rested and relaxed. And that’s what vacations are for.

The winner is #114 (Meredith), congrats! Please contact me at Kay@kayotic.nl so we can get you your KitchenAid!

It’s been a while. One year to be exact. One year ago today I had my first KitchenAid giveaway. I’m not one to throw around expensive giveaways, but it was a special present as a thank you for making that first year of blogging unforgettable. It only makes sense to do another KitchenAid giveaway now that my toddler became a preschooler today. Two years already, wow. I’m still impressed with my persistence, especially after I’ve been told that 55% of the blogs don’t make it past the first three months.

Lots of things happened this last year, some good and some bad, from still ongoing family tragedies to happy events and everything inbetween. And not in the least my brand new site design, of which I’m extremely proud. My blog has become home to the things that are part of me now, if that makes sense. It let’s you peek into my food, photos, idiosyncrasies, thoughts and life.

Without all of you there would be no Kayotic Kitchen, and I would be missing out on all the fun photographing my sometimes weird recipes, my sweet-but-oh-so-naughty son and my beautiful country brings with it.

There is simply no better way to celebrate a Blogoversary and to say thank you than by giving away a shiny new and pretty Kitchen Aid Artisan Mixer, is there? Know that it doesn’t matter to me where on God’s green Earth you reside—provided they sell KitchenAid’s there—or what color you’re lusting after.

The orange one is seriously cute, though.

But with the World Championship ending on a not so happy note for our orange team, lime might be better. Definitely easier on my aching heart!

~ To enter, let me know what your dream vacation looks like. Seeing as I’m on vacation as you’re reading this.

* Only one entry per person and no entries after Monday 10am CEST, please. I’ll announce the winner later that day!

Thanks, everyone, for making my second year of blogging even more successful than my first! And always remember:

“Close your eyes. Feel the rain. Feel the sun. Live!”

My dream vacation: traveling through Australia :)
And I’m going in less than 2 months!
    Congrats on your blog!

My dream holiday is going to Iceland with my mum to spend some quality time with her, to go horseback riding and see the beautiful amazing nature that is so special to Iceland.

    Congrats!
My dream vacation? working as a volunteer in Africa on a white shark-cage dive boat. Study these beautiful animals, preparing food for them :-) and most of all: being wildly amazed by their amazing strength, teeth, force and good looks.

Oh, man – I had my dream vacation a couple of years ago with my family. We stayed in a little newly opened vacation house spot in Italy, and were entirely alone after the first two days. When we sat on the porch to eat in the evening, the sun set over a mountain right in front of os. We felt like millinaires. The owners had a kitten who fell in love with my brother – when we sat outside to read, it curled up on his lap and grumbled when he didn’t pet it. I dream of doing that again. :)

And congratulations on your blogoversary! Hope you’re enjoying your holiday. :)

My dream holidays would be to travel to Japan and live in a local family for a few weeks… and having one of my multilingal close friends along to translate!

Congrats on the two year mark! You’ve done a wonderful job and visiting your blog has been part of my daily routine for over a year now. I, and my family with me, love your recipes, how they’re creative, relatively easy, and always turn out great. I love your photography that even makes my mouth water for the fish recipes (I hate fish with a passion) and your writing style and little anecdotes really make the recipes fun to read. Thanks for sharing all that and ‘ga zo door’!

Moving on from this fangirlish declaration of love: My dream vacation would be one that has lots of wonderful landscapes to admire, lots of culture, nice weather and some time to relax with the people I love most. Destinations that meet those criteria are too many to list, so it is really quite hard to pick.. Too bad my budget won’t allow visiting them all. Or at least not yet, I like to think :)

    My dream vacation?
Renting a big house on the ocean, filling it with my sisters and their families, our best friends (no grumps allowed!,) and then trading off who cooks. Everyone gets to make their favorite food at least once!

I think my dream vacation would be a private beach, a beautiful house with porches and verandas to enjoy the view, and a swimming pool for when I want to be even lazier!
That, or having the Palazzo Té in Mantova all to myself for a week!

My dream vacation is either Australia or Greece, somewhere warm and beachy but also with plenty to see!
Congrats on your two year anniversary!

    My dream vacation… Hmm… Let’s think!
I think it’s rather impossible to accomplish because it would take a lot of time and cost a lot of money… But here it is…
I would like travel around the world for several years  and visit each and every country there is. In each country I want to spend a few days, weeks or even months travelling from city to city and get to know the country, it’s people, it’s food,…! I would let a local take me to all the places forgotten by the touristic books, I want to taste the food in the restaurants the locals are going to, I want to drink the wine the locals are drinking, and I want to learn to cook like the locals are cooking.
I think it would be such an awesome experience to see the things trough the eyes of a local who has been living there whole his live instead of visiting the things you are supposed to visit.
But I’m affraid my dream vacation really would be a neverending vacation…

It seems like year after year we end up in the Caribbean, but I’d love to visit Europe next.  If I had to pick one country (to start— because I feel the need to go back to see the rest!) it would be Italy.  I love all food Italian and food is my driving force in most things I do (sad, but true).

    Happy Blogoversary!!!
My dream vacation is, as all my vacations are, centered around food. Strolling through markets, absorb the atmosphere and eating nice honest local food. It can be simple or three star as long as it isn’t from a chain! The location doesn’t really matter, I’ve been a lot of places and have learned that you can have just as much fun and good eats close to home!
    Enjoy your vacation!!
BTW, that Orange KA Mixer would match perfectly with my Orange KA Blender ;-)

    1st: Congrats!
2nd: My dream vacation would be with my family in the US. First to (re)visit my relatives and introduce our kids to them.
Second, since my great passion is bbq, we would go to 1 (or several) bbq contests, visit a couple of bbq joints/restaurants, and naturally bbq with the relatives both like they would do it normaly, and try to demo them how a “typical Dutch” bbq would look like.

Congrats on two years! I have been following for a little over a year. I remember last year, I was so surprised you had only been at it for a year! You’re a pro!
I have so many dream vacations my husband and I are currently honeymooning in Paris. But we have been daydreaming for years of sailing around the world mostly european and mediterranean coastlines!
Cheers to many more blogging years!

My dream vacation would be traveling back to the west coast of the States; starting out in Napa, where I could actually enjoy the wine this time (was pregnant last year and couldn’t indulge!). We’d travel North to Seattle where we would jump head first into some fresh seafood.
    Congrats!!! Love ya!

Happy anniversary. Keep up the good work!!!
A fav holiday right now would be five days in Valencia. Strolling, drinking coffee in that tiny coffee bar in the centre, at least have one picknick in the city park with fresh bread, cheese and sausage from the market halls, sipping Aqua de Valencia at the beach, checking out the bizarrely amazing architecture and eating paella with lovely shellfish and vegetables, shopping for some nice skirts & shoes. Oh and lets not forget the siestas. The siesta’s! Hmmmmmmmm!

    Congratulations on your 2nd blogoversary!

My dream vacation… could be in our backyard really. Cycling to all the farmers markets and landwinkels around, spending the rest of the day in the kitchen preparing great fresh vegetarian food for my family. Really, I could go on for weeks!
