Thanks for entering, everyone! Random.org gave me comment #64, which is Morgan! Will have to try some ranch dressing with my fries, never had fries with dressing before! Not sure I can buy ranch dressing here, though. Please contact me at kay@kayotic.nl so we can get you your package!

Putting this giveaway in the recipes section because, well, it is food-related.

Since I’m up to my eyeballs in fixing Dutch care packages for friends, I figured it was time to assemble some of the ‘best’ Holland has to offer and turn it into a giveaway on Kayotic Kitchen. I’ve done it before and I’m not afraid to do it again, though I admit it’s rare for me to do giveaways at all.

I’m taking the liberty of reusing the photos from a previous giveaway. Seriously, you can take only so many shots of a Ketjap bottle, right? Here’s some of the stuff that in my opinion belongs in an average Dutch care package:

Hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles) and other sprinkles. There must be hagelslag.

Ketjap Manis (a thick, sweet, soy sauce).

Dutch-process cocoa. Of course.

Stroopwafels. Not these, I’m buying the real Gouda deal and they come in a Delfts Blauw storage container.

This is Delfts Blauw, in case you were wondering. I know it’s kinda tacky but don’t blame me; it’s a typical Dutch must-have!

Special french fries mayo (not the same as regular mayo, mind you). I love how each country has its own condiment for fries.

I also got some appelstroop, Dutch liquorice, my favorite curry powder and other things. Plus, I found the cutest fridge magnets (see intro shot).

Want to enter the giveaway, just answer the following in the comments section.

“Have you ever eaten mayonnaise with your fries?”

Only one entry per person, please. I’ll pick a random winner on Monday (April 16th!).

Disclaimer: I’m not responsible for any kind of addiction that follows from eating products you cannot buy in your own country. I’m only an enabler. You’re on your own!

Yes I learned to love mayo with french fries when I spent the summer  of 1995 in Holland.

No, I haven`t but mayo is one of those things those here in Japan put on everything.

I always eat my fries with nothing but mayonnaise :)

Yes! I lived in Germany for a while after I finished school and I adored the mayo that they had there, and in Belgium and Holland to go with the chips. Best ever :) In Australia people only really eat chips with tomato sauce, which is totally gross, and they think I am crazy for liking the mayo!

yes, of course :) In my country it’s normal and also I don’t like ketchup :))

Mmm. I experimented with my parents’ condiment counter as a kid; hit the jackpot with the mayonnaise. (They STILL think I’m weird. But just give me time…)

In the UK it’s ketchup with everything, but I would rather have a rich creamy mayonnaise with crisp, homemade fries every time!  (I only ever tried making my own mayonnaise once, years ago, and it was such a disaster I don’t think it will every be repeated unless someone can come up with a foolproof recipe!)

Yes, I have! At first, I was disgusted. Then, I was hesitant. Finally, I was intrigued. Lastly, I was in love.

Most definitely, although patat oorlog is my fav. Oh and oliebol in the cold weather. Darn I miss Dutch food, the currie powder & cinnamon is definitely superior than the stuff here in Australia. Cant wait til we go back to visit!! I usually send a MASSIVE package back to Oz when we do. Costs a fortune in postage but so worth it and thats not including the stuff I already have in my luggage!

Yes! There is something about the potatoes in the NL that demands it ! ;). Yum!

      What a fun give-away .

For sure! When I eat french fries, there has to be mayo and chilli sauce, and I love to mix them together! It’s the best sauce combination ever!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Whenever I’m in Holland, I go for patat speciaal! With curry obviously. x

Of course!!! I actually prefer mayo with fries, a lot more than ketchup :D I discovered the wonderful combination on my first day of university, 12 years ago. It changed my world :)

Of course!!  Fritessaus is a must! (and Miracle Whip doesn’t cut it-I’m an ex-pat!) I actually saw a little cafe in Seattle that had a sign with “Frites” in the name and I headed straight for it.  Unfortunately they were closed….

Yes! It’s the best sauce for fries (although homemade satehsauce also scores high)! :P

They are the best with mayo! I can have them with ketchup or with vinegar, but with mayo they are just to die for.

I’m not a fan of straight mayo on fries but I have used plenty of aoli-style seasoned dipping sauces. Also, a guilty pleasure is blue cheese dressing on fries!

      Love you site!

Yep! They’re awesome with nuggets too. Mayo is something I’ve always hauled from abroad.

I don’t believe so. It’s never been really appealing to me….but this is coming from a no-mayo girl! If I would try it, I’d probably mix it with ketchup!

How is the Fritessaus different from regular mayonnaise? Spicier?
