No, they’re not the same. Baking soda is pure sodium bicarbonate. You can use baking powder in place of baking soda (you’ll need more, though) but never the other way around.

I love your blog! There is something that puzzles me. Isn’t baking soda the same as baking powder? Or is baking soda the same as bi-carbonate?

That is so funny about the baking soda. I never new I was taking it for granted all these years in the USA. I will look at baking soda in a different light now.

I have been here! Our family took a trip to The Netherlands in 1999 and of course, we went to all of the fabulous parts of Holland. I remember the windmill, the grounds, and the shops.
I hope to return.

Yes, I’m a convert. Before I discovered this, I used to use those boxes filled with 4 or 5 envelopes of yeast. But THIS is not only cheaper but it is vaccum packed, so I know the yeast is still alive when I buy it! And I keep them in my freezer, that is what the teacher taught us at one of the bread baking class I took part in :)

Ik ben ietsjes ouder, ik word dit jaar 36 en ben ook alweer zo’n 17 uit Stolwijk weg. Ik zal ze best bij (achter) naam kennen, maar het zegt me zo niks, nee.

Precies ze hadden het altijd over die christelijke die de kabel TV tegen hielden,
‘t mocht niet onder hun land want TV was de duivel, echt niet te geloven, je kent Marnix (33) en Lisette (27) dus niet? Ik weet jou leeftijd niet maar Ik herinner mij de afscheids musical en het jeugd EHBO examen.
Kralingen is de leukste wijk van Rotterdam Ik heb 30 jaar woningen verhuurd en buren ruzies gesust het was een echte studenten wijk, altijd lachen daar.

De hazelmuis was mijn school ook. Ik ben niet niet gedoopt en ook niet gelovig opgevoed. Ja, als Rotterdamse in Stolwijk komen wonen was helemaal vreemd, hoe lang je er ook woonde, je bleef altijd een buitenbeentje.

Ik sta ook echt met twee benen in verschillende plaatsen. Mijn vader ligt begraven in Rotterdam, en mijn moeder in Stolwijk.

Dan kent jij mijn nichie en neefie niet uit Stolwijk ze zaten op de Hazelmuis want ze waren niet christelijk genoeg (doopsgezind of dope gezind…lol) voor de beter bekend staande christelijke school. echt conservatief protestant dorp hoor!

Not a real one at all. I was born in Rotterdam (Kralingen). Went to school in R’dam and still have an accent.
