Crispy Baked Fish

Sorry in advance to all the food snobs out there, but this is not going to be a recipe using codfish so fresh you can still perform CPR on it, nor does it contain any kind of fish that comes with a $20 (per pound) price tag on it. Over here fresh fish is pretty darn expensive. I still buy it every now and then but the prices are absolutely over the top. So…

    Delicioso Chorizo

Because puff pastry stuffed with chorizo just doesn’t sound fancy :) I know it’s terribly early, but New Year’s is right around the corner and I’m already planning things ahead. It’s always a crazy and fun evening with lots of friends, family and neighbors dropping by. Large tables filled with copious amounts of potato and salmon salad, warm crispy bread, lots of hot & cold tapas, spicy wings, mini snacks,…

      Caramelized Chicory

Now there are no forbidden fruits vegetables in my kitchen, and we all love chicory here (endive when you’re in the US), but I think most -and I use the term loosely- people don’t care for the slight bitterness. Such a shame because you can actually use it to your advantage and create a perfect balance between all the flavors. It’s so much fun to come up with recipes that…

Ever since I first set food on the beautiful island of Crete, I’ve been smitten by Greece. Fell head over heels in love with the country, the scenery, the people, the culture, the laid back mentality and definitely the superb Greek kitchen. That and Katy Garbi! I’m a firm believer of ‘less is more‘ when it comes to cooking. Less is often much, much more. Get down to basics – good…

New categories for me. I’m filing this under ‘kids‘ and ‘breakfast‘. Not because it’s a specific food for children, but because my baby loves to eat this (will I ever stop calling him my baby? I somehow doubt it). This is by far his favorite breakfast -not to mention he loves to ‘help‘ me cook it – which makes it a fun thing for the both of us. If he likes…

            Stroganoff Sauce

You can’t make me any happier than to serve me a nice piece of grilled chicken, royally drizzled with home made stroganoff sauce. A few Parmesan cottage potatoes on the side and I’m a happy camper. What I like most about it -aside from the fact it’s a rich, flavorful sauce filled with vegetables- is how you can add or subtract anything you like. Sometimes I add mushrooms, a few…
