Moroccan Kefta

I’m making a Moroccan Kefta today—Kefta simply means ground meat. You grind it, add several spices to it and turn it into little meatballs. Of course you could try to shape them into little teletubbies, Eiffel towers, or even tiny Mona Lisas will do! Be creative! (just kidding, sorry:) My kefta is slightly different though; I’m using ground beef in stead of the more authentic ground lamb. Mine are also poached in a lemon…

    Dutch Macaroni

A question I’m often asked; “What package did you use? Geez, thanks a lot, so when something tastes good, it has to be a package, right? :) I have to admit I seldom to never use packages for anything. It’s not that I’m a food purist—I just really don’t like the faint suggestion of something chemical I always seem to taste in there. I get far better results with simple…

      Kay’s Chili Con Carne

Spur of the moment posting! It wasn’t until after I already chopped the bell peppers, chili pepper and onion that I spontaneously decided to grab my camera and turn it into a quick photo posting. The photos aren’t great because, well, I was in a hurry (dinner time) and didn’t have time for a proper set up, but you’ll get the idea! This is really simple and basic food—the type of food that pops…

        Dutch Winter Stew

It’s Sunday, just got back from a long walk in the park before the bad weather is supposed to set in. I have plenty of free time on my hands, lots of beef in the freezer, stocked up on vegetables, radio tuned in to the best Motown, northern soul music and my munchkin is napping. What more could a girl ask for? It’s stew time! I love beef, I love…

Wanna make something fun? Let’s stuff a few apples. This dish just screams autumn to me! Not entirely sure why. Found it in one of those old fashioned ‘grandma cooks’ cookbooks some time ago and it immediately caught my eye. It looked so cheerful and playful, I simply had to make it. I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t alter, tweak and adjust a few things, of course. The freshness…

            Kiddy Con Carne

We’ve hit the terrible twos! Oh boy, we’ve hit ‘em hard. Little angel turned into a little demon (at times). Amazing, seems it happened overnight. I got a break, though, he didn’t start ’til recently and is now almost 2 and a half. Counting my blessings! Things that were (inserts best Dora voice) ‘yummy delicious’, are now steadfastly pushed to the side with a loud ‘yuck‘, not to mention…
