Sweet Onion & Bread Soup

Borrowing another Delicious magazine recipe. Hope they don’t mind. Somehow I doubt it; it’s only recipe plagiarism when you make someone else’s recipes and don’t reveal the source, isn’t it? I’m a sucker for their magazine, though I must admit I don’t cook a lot of their recipes. They’re too fancy for me and for everyday cooking. I mainly drool over the gorgeous photography. But that somewhat changed. I knew I had to…

    Insalata Panzanella

It’s Hot here. That’s Hot with a capital H for ya, because you see, Dutch houses generally don’t have air conditioning and the temperature in my living room went up to 85 today. It was 85! Argh. I just can’t cook in this kind of heat so in stead we made tons of grilled chicken, steaks and fish on the BBQ and I served salads with it. Simple, tasty and gorgeous…

      Potato & Bacon Muffins

C’mon now, don’t frown! It’s me… Kay! Surely you must’ve seen stranger recipes over here! In pursuit of the one perfect ‘leftover mashed potatoes‘ recipe, I think I’ve come pretty darn close this time. I figured if I can turn the mashed taters into pancakes and soup, I should be able to turn them into muffins too, right? Throw in some onions, bacon, cheese and well, it could work. And…

        Faux Red Lobster Biscuits

A little while ago I received an email, from Tracey, with a cookbook attached to it—for which I’ll be eternally grateful. It’s a special copycat cookbook! I think I shrieked when I saw it! She mailed it to me because of the Lawry’s seasoned salt recipe in it. Obviously—with my severe Lawry’s addiction—she thought I might like. And I sure did! Now I’d already found the Lawry’s recipe online, but when…

          Sweet Potato Soda Bread

Well, the title sweet potato soda bread doesn’t really cover the load, since the bread is also stuffed with cheese. And thyme. Now I’ll be the first to admit that soda bread is an acquired taste. I’ve always been a big fan of it. The Irish are taking over! Yes, yes, I’ve heard it… world domination, one bread product at a time (winks at Donal and Machroi). But imagine…

            Herbed Bread Sticks

Despite what you might think, nothing is more difficult to me than shooting in direct sunlight. So many exposure issues to pay attention to, so many harsh shadows, so much soft, yellow light to mess up your white balance. But I like a good challenge and believe I’ve used the soft and rustic light to my advantage. What did I make? Another party snack/appetizer, of course! Simple herbed bread sticks….
