Falksalt

My latest culinary find: I simply have to share the salty, spicy love. I recently ran into this beautiful jar filled with red chili crystal salt flakes. I’d never heard of the brand Falksalt before but it turns out to be a Swedish company and let me tell you that I’ve been hooked ever since I tasted their first salt crystal. I now use them on top of baked potatoes,…

Cookbook Heaven

Let’s talk cookbooks! Show me yours and I’ll show you mine.. a few of them. I’ll start. Here are four of my favourites, in no particular order:   Curry Easy by Madhur Jaffrey is probably one of the best books ever written. Not just in my humble opinion! I’m not that familiar with Indian cuisine and figured I’d be better off getting my inspiration from a pro, rather than trying…

They’ll Make Me Go To Rehab!

Wait! Don’t start your weekend just yet. I need you for a split moment. A couple of years back they started selling slow cookers here. Okay, so I admit we were a little late to the party! Suffice to say I bought one (a Kenwood) immediately but really, I¬†was duly unimpressed. The darn thing got so hot that low and slow seemed like an impossible task. Recipes that were supposed…

It’s Fake And Small

One of the cons to living in the Netherlands and especially the Randstad (conurbation) is that the houses are relatively small and oftentimes have such undersized living rooms that I just don’t know where to fit a huge Christmas tree in here. Especially not since I bought a decent sized corner sofa. At first glance this might look like a full-size tree. Probably due to the angle I took the…
