Had a rare free moment today and wonderful light to work with, so I started working on a series of natural-light food photos for my home. Something I’d been planning forever but somehow never got around to.
Fresh vegetables and fruit, all photographed in the same style and printed on canvas. They’ll probably end up somewhere in my kitchen.
I started with this beauty…
What on earth could be more beautiful to look at, photograph, and eventually eat than a gorgeous purple and green fig? I honestly don’t know.

They are delicious with any type of cured ham. Or in a salad with arugula, pancetta and mozzarella, lightly drizzled with honey!
I love figs, fresh or dried! Beautiful pic!
I love food photography and this picture is beautiful :-)
Kay,
If I lived anywhere near you, I’d be over at your place daily hoping some of your talents rub off on me. What a stunning image. I like eating figs too, preferably with a Robusto cheese and truffle honey. To die for.
Hugs,
Tess
AGREED. Love this!
What a pretty picture! I don’t even know when figs are in season!?! I found some once, and made a delicious appetizer with bacon, goat cheese and pecans. Gotta start keeping my eyes open for figs!
Figs are great for just snacking too.Pop one in your mouth and cold milk.yummmm.Great pic Kay
Haha!! Great minds think alike..:) I am doing exactly the same thing for our new kitchen. I have a garlic pic so far. Love your fig photo ( and just love figs too!)
Someone actually made a painting from my garlic photo and mailed me a canvas print. It’s breath-taking!
Fresh figs are wonderful, but I think I’ll have a surplus this year. I need to collect all the recipes I can!
Last year I had few figs, my tree (more of a bush) was killed down to the ground. By the end of last summer it was as high as the house (OK, it is a ranch, but still impressive growth). This year all the shoots survived the winter, hardly any damage, so I expect lots of figs all summer long!
I’ll enjoy figs for breakfast, fresh ripe figs broken in half & eating the sweet insides.
Awesome picture – you are such an inspiration!
I have the big’est Fig tree in my back yard. We eat the figs right off the tree, however, we do at times have to fight the birds (they like em also). I am also looking for recipes with Figs.
Beautiful picture! I hope you frame it and it sits in your kitchen or somewhere in your house. It has truly gorgeous colors!
Had ir printed on canvas (quite large), it’s been on my livingroom wall for some time, but stored it on the attic recently when I bought a new cabinet.
