Just a quick post to say a huge thanks for all the incredibly sweet well wishes, emails, tweets, book recommendations and wonderful comments over the past six weeks! You guys really kept my spirits up!
Just had my 6 week post surgery x-ray and everything looked splendid! Bones have healed properly and I got the green light to start walking again.
Surprised me a lot; initially I was told I would only be allowed partial weight bearing for the next few weeks. I guess the workouts I gave my ankle with the resistance band and all the alphabet writing in the sky did pay off in the end.
Just took my very first steps. First step my leg kinda crashed and I was very insecure, but after those initial baby steps I slowly picked up on it again and it didn’t feel entirely uncomfortable/painful, not more than expected. It just feels so good to be back on my feet again.
Still walking with crutches and I’ll start PT therapy soon. Much needed PT. Not there yet and still have a long way to go before I’ll be out running again, but slowly I’m getting there!
That is great news! I hope your PT helps you to walk normally again as soon as possible. You’re halfway there. Good luck :)
What good, good news! And that’s interesting about the ankle exercises you used.
Has it been six weeks??? Then I got to say the time flies doesn’t it. Before we know it we are getting ready for Christmas. Glad you are doing okay.
That is great – so glad to hear it!
Great News sweety!
I spent 40 days on a wheelchair and its very boring!
I hope you get better soon!
I am so glad your doing better. Just remember baby steps are a good thing!
Hope you’re feeling better, Kay! Missing your posts for sure.
You go with your disciplined alphabet-writing and band-stretching! I’m glad it’s paid off and that you’re on your way back to a normal life!
I am so happy you are feeling better. I have only broken a few ribs and some toes. Can’t imagine what you have had to go through. I miss you and look forward to your complete recovery.
Good luck Kay! I’m sure it will be hard, but be patient and take things slowly to avoid any setbacks.
Great news,happy for ya.
Great news!!! Congratulations on being such a super patient and keep up the good work!!
So good to hear that you are on the mend. It sure has been a long haul for you. Sorry that you have been through such an ordeal and so much pain, but glad to hear that you are on your feet again at least baby steps!
Yay!! This is a great update. Best wishes for a complete and steady recovery.
Kay, happy to hear you are healing so well and getting back normal, though slowly it may be. I told my mom, “Kay broke her ankle!” and she asked, “Who is that?”. You have become a part of all of our lives and are like a friend, even though we haven’t met. Funny how the internet has done that for people around the world. Keep getting better, we are all rooting for you and are waiting for the next update.
My son went trough two foot surgeries, time took forever for him. The rest of us were amazed at his recovery…I think it will be the same for you. You’ll be up and running in no time (to the rest of us).
So glad you are on the mend. You go girl!
Sooo tired of the ABCs — 3 reps 3 times a day. But I think they work…
So gald you are doing better.
Sorry I am late on this but this is such good news Kay. Make sure you keep taking baby steps though. Happy you will be back posting recipes again too
That’s such good news!! So glad you are healing quickly.

Great news, Kay! So glad you are progressing at or above the expected pace. Hang in there.
I am so sorry to hear about your ankle! Injuries can be slow healing, especially that area. LOve your Site, will you be doing any gluten free posts in the future? I’m a foodie & health coach and finding new gems in this arena is my forte’. be well, rest up that foot!
