I smiled when I came back from a trip to the park with J-man and saw this cute van parked there. What a photography moment!
There’s an advertisement printed all over, but it’s nothing commercial; it’s a way to invoke people to think about an artisan job such as hammersmith or carpenter. So typically Dutch and big part of why I love my country so much. I think the American expats here will understand what I mean.
The van had a 70′s style, look and feel to it, really cool. Hence the old fashioned processing. It just seemed to fit.
This weekend I’ll be taking my camera, and you, with me to Rotterdam. My hometown. I was born there, spent a (small) part of my childhood there, went to school and worked there big part of my life.

Looking forward to seeing pictures from my home country! It’s been 13 long years sine I was there.
I was born in Hilversum.
Have fun!
Nice ! Its awesome that at least somethings are not just for advertisements ! Have fun in Rotterdam…
How cute! And I love the vintage processing you did. Can’t wait to see Rotterdam through your camera.
Cool photo! I love the processing you did on this photo.
P.S. What about the expats from all the OTHER countries out there? :)
Ben super benieuwd naar de Rotterdam foto’s!! Geboren & getogen daar, mis het elke dag!
@Memoria:
Strangest thing is, I don’t know expats from other countries. Not even from the UK or Germany! Somehow I only run into the American ones :)
@kay: spend a day around amsterdam, you’ll meet more than you bargained for. ;)
@Bricin:
It’s been a while since I last visited A’dam. Love it there and will definitely take my camera there sometime soon, but you have to go for more than an hour or two and that’s probably pretty boring for a 4-year-old. Parking costs are crazy there as well.
Rotterdam is right around the corner so gonna take a few shots there first.
I”m not an expat per se, but I enjoy the retro look of the van. Have fun in Rotterdam, it’s been ages since I’ve been there!
Love that pic.
Looking forward to seeing what we do in Rotterdam this weekend ;)
