dutch girl

You’ve stumbled upon my little corner of the web! I’m the cooking Dutch girl! No seriously, I have the wooden shoes to prove it! I live in Gouda, so that doesn’t just make me Dutch, but it also gives me full access to cheese. Lots of cheese. Expect to see an overkill of Gouda cheese.

I cook for my small family of three and have a major love for volume cooking (read: I do the very undutch cups and measuring spoons thing). I don’t do grams, and I don’t weigh stuff, unless I bake… which I seldom do since I lack the sweet tooth gene. Luckily there are a lot of conversion websites out there that will do the math for you, and also for the metric impaired.

My kitchen is my studio. Everything I see my canvas and life itself my inspiration. My lighting is simple & free, since I use only natural light in all of my photography. Food as well as portraits. I do not own strobes, or studio lights. Ask me, and I’ll be happy to give you a few tips, though I don’t claim to know it all, I just pretend to know what I’m doing.

Basically this blog is all about having fun with food & my camera. Think along the lines of Photography meets Cooking. You’ll see lots of food postings popping up, family kitchen secrets I’ll share or photographic evidence of the crazy and sometimes unorthodox recipes I try out on the people around me (and they’re all still alive!!). Not to mention my blog will show you my somewhat disturbing predilection towards colorful kitchen gadgets and measuring spoons. I don’t think Betty Ford has a 12 stepper for that yet, so you’ll just have to deal.

I also like to share photography or Photoshop tips and tricks. Every now and then I’ll even take you on a photo tour through my country, and I just might throw in a few pictures of my crazy and funny kid here and there, who I love to show off. I’m such a mom. Ocasionally I’ll do giveaways, but only when I run into fun stuff that I like to share.

But mainly, I hope you’ll enjoy your journey through my kitchen, I know he does!
