Because sometimes a picture says more than words ever could.

Witch’s Cheese

I’d never even heard of Witch’s cheese until someone asked me about the recipe. I googled it and quickly found it’s a typically Dutch (Twents) dip that’s used as crostini topping, sauce for pork chops, cheese spread, a vegetable dip and even dressing. Pretty versatile. Went to the store and there it was: Zuivelhoeve Heks’nkaas. Tasted it and in all honesty… wasn’t too crazy about it. To me it has…

Chicken, Potato & Peanut Stew

It’s been a whopping 101 degrees here. Highly unusual for the Netherlands. Thank God, because our houses are generally not air-conditioned. There was no way I was going to spend a lot of time and energy in my kitchen and I wasn’t about to add any extra warmth by turning the oven on either, so a slow cooker meal it was. Big chunks of potato and chicken that melts on…

Roti Chicken. Crock-Pot Edition.

One of my personal favourites (and probably most googled) recipes is also one of my worst recipes photography-wise: roti chicken. What the heck was I doing there?! Anyway, did you know you can also make this dish in your slow cooker? It’s even easier. I’m also going to be reshooting the parathas as well pretty soon—have a new and improved recipe + technique. But back to the slow cooker recipe,…

I’m using a different ratio, a light olive oil and the added lemon juice makes this pesto just a tad softer and fresher. Works perfect for summer pasta as well as sandwiches and pizzas. I needed the pesto for a recipe I plan on posting later this week, but then it…

Mad Baking Skills

Quick shot because, really, this makes me such a proud mom. The kiddo wanted to bake a cake all week long… just my luck. Today I told him to go right ahead and bake it. And he did… he made it almost by himself. Not bad for a 6-year-old. Not bad at all. It’s rich, moist and totally decadent. I wish I could say he’s got his baking skills from me,…

Comeback Burger

It was time for me to come back! Had a wonderful and relaxing vacation, got to spend fun time with J-man, but am ready to rock again. What have I been doing? Well, for starters, I managed to copy the McDonald’s burgers. I sure did and get this, I even bought MSG for it; they use lots of it and I really wanted to duplicate their burgers. So far I…
